Welcome!
“Celebrating God’s Love For Children!”
“Let the little children come to me”
Children
are vital members of the BUMC family of faith. Here at BUMC a warm,
safe, caring environment is provided where boys and girls experience
God’s love and where they grow in their faith. Children are
encouraged to build relationships in small group settings. Worship,
study, prayer, service and fellowship are important aspects of
activities especially designed for children.
BUMC encourages parents and children to worship together in
the Sanctuary. In this setting, boys and girls recognize the
importance of community worship as they experience the sounds,
smells, sights, and feel of the Sanctuary.
Nursery care is available for infants and toddlers during
worship services and for many other church sponsored events.
If you have any questions or suggestions for the Children’s
Ministry, please contact Nancy Spence at

Sunday
Morning 9:30 A.M. & 11:00 A.M.
Sunday School is
for 3 year olds through 5th grade. Nursery care is provided for
children, birth – 3 years old. Please label all belongings with the
nursery age child’s name. Be sure each child is properly registered
in his/her class. We use the September 1st birthday cut-off date for
placing children in classes.
BIBLES
Bibles are presented to our third graders during a worship service
in September. Special sessions provide opportunities for the
children to become familiar with their Bibles and become more
comfortable using them.
MUSIC
Children’s Choirs begin in September. Music is also an important
part of Sunday School. The boys and girls sing during worship
services periodically. They play the bells during the worship
services at Christmas time and at Easter. The choirs also present a
musical during the year.
“TWEENS”
Fourth and Fifth Graders
are at a unique stage in their lives. We offer Sunday School lessons
that deal with life issues specific to their age and interest. We
also provide activities throughout the year for these boys and
girls.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
One week each summer Pre-K through 5th graders enjoy a fun week of
learning and sharing together. They participate in stories, crafts,
and music. Snack time and recreation are important parts of VBS. The
children help others through a Mission Project.
EASTER EGG HUNT
An Easter Egg Hunt with games and refreshments is held each year
during Easter week for children through 4th grade. 5th graders help
hide the eggs.

VOLUNTEERS AND SAFE
SANCTUARIES
Volunteers,
under the guidance of the Children’s Council and paid Staff provide
the leadership for all children’s activities. Volunteers are subject
to a background check as a protection for themselves as well as our
children. We use a team approach and strive to have two teachers in
a classroom at all times. Large windows allow visibility into each
classroom. A Sunday School Coordinator or Staff Person is in the
hallway whenever Sunday School is in session.
"SPECIAL NEEDS”
We wish to provide a loving environment for all children. If a child
has a special need or requires special attention, the parents are
asked to inform the Staff of the situation in order to provide a
positive and rewarding experience for all involved.
ILLNESS
Please do not bring sick or contagious children to the nursery or
Sunday School. Rest at home is the best environment for these
children.
