Imagine
a future generation that reflects God's Mercy
Week 5
October 9th - October 14th
Monday, October 9th, 2006
Thought for the day: All compassion we reflect in word and
deed is from God, the source of mercy extended.
Scripture: Psalm 145:8-9
“The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger and
great in mercy, The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercies are
over all His works.”
Application: When you sit and reflect at the end of the
day, all you have encountered and been apart of, was active and
conscious mercy given? How did you extend God’s mercy? To whom did
you extend God’s mercy? What encouraged you at that moment in time
to step out and reach out? How did you feel just before during and
after the encounter?
Prayer: Merciful Father, thank you for choosing me to be
your child of mercy. Teach us each to genuinely represent your mercy
to those you would bring across our path in our daily lives. Pour
out your mercy on this world in new and magnificent ways that we may
grow your kingdom on earth as it is in heaven.
Tuesday, October 10th, 2006
Thought for the day: We are given the loving Word of
God to show us what is good in God’s eyes.
Scripture: Micah 6:8
“He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord
require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly
with your God?”
Application: When and where are those times in your life
that you are given the opportunity to be merciful as God is to us?
Prayer:
Prayer: Merciful Father, create in me a desire to reflect
your merciful character to our loved ones and to a lost and dying
world.
Reflections & Response:
Wednesday, October 11th, 2006
Thought for the day: As you extend God’s mercy to others,
His promise is that He will extend His mercy to you.
Scripture: Matthew 5:7
“Blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy.”
Psalm 62:12
“Also to you O Lord, belongs mercy; For you render to each one
according to his work.”
Application: As you grow in godliness what purpose do you
think God has in mind for you that you might be a blessing to
others?
Prayer: Merciful Father, reveal to me what you would have
me do to bring you glory and serve your people. Thank you for your
promise of Mercy to me.
Thursday, October 12th, 2006
Thought for the day: God’s mercy is abundant in our lives.
Scripture: 1 Chronicles 16:34
“Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, for his mercy
endures forever."
Application: When you reflect on God’s mercy in your life
what comes to your heart?
Prayer: Merciful father, thank you for your mercy that has
continued from the beginning with Adam and Eve and extends to me
now. Teach me to share a heart of thanks towards all you have done
and provided, and give us spiritual eyes to see where you have
intervened on our behalf.
Friday, October 13th, 2006
Thought for the day: We should desire a merciful heart.
Scripture: Proverbs 3:3-4
“Let not mercy and truth forsake you;
Bind them around your neck,
Write them on the tablet of your heart,
And so find favor and high esteem
In the sight of God and man.”
Application: At what times do you find yourself struggling
with a merciful attitude? What circumstances surround those times?
Prayer: Merciful Father, grow me in your mercy so others
will want to seek and follow you.
Saturday, October 14th, 2006
Thought for the day: His act of mercy on the cross saved
us.
Scripture: Titus 3:5
“Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according
to His mercy, He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and
renewing of the Holy Spirit.”
Application: How do you respond to this act of mercy
towards you and your family?
Prayer: Merciful Father, your mercy abounds and your desire
is to bless me and my family so that I may be a blessing to others.
Create those opportunities for us so that we may be blessed by your
endless mercy.
