Comfort Ministry

Comfort Ministry Needs YOU!
Even if you are not a Comfort Ministry Leader or a Comfort Minister, you play an important role in BUMC’s Comfort Ministry. Comfort Ministers need your prayerful support as they confidentially meet with their care receivers every week.
Comfort Ministry Leaders also need your help in identifying people who may benefit from a Comfort Ministry relationship. If you see a friend, coworker, neighbor, relative, or someone else who could use some extra Christian care, tell that person about our Comfort Ministry and get permission to refer him or her to a Comfort Ministry Leader.
If you are interested in becoming a Comfort Minister and would like information on a future Comfort Ministry training class, contact Traci Walker-Woods at tjw0908@yahoo.com or call the church office at 678.942.1600.

Comfort Ministry is for people who want someone to care, to listen, to share God's love during or throughout confusing, stressful, or lonely times.

How to receive care from a Comfort Minister

Comfort Ministry helps meet the needs of individuals who are hospitalized, terminally ill, bereaved, in a job crisis, new members of the church, disabled, homebound, lonely, in a spiritual crisis, looking for a caring, Christian friend.

  • Is life more than you can handle alone right now?
  • Are your health, your attitudes, or your relationships suffering?
  • Are you adjusting to a new job, change in marital status, a serious illness, the death of a loved one, a recent move?
  • Would you like to have someone in your life who really cares?

Everyone goes through difficult times. Having someone to care, to listen, to share God's love with you can help you get through the confusion, stress, or loneliness you may be experiencing. Our Comfort Ministers are caring church members who offer one-to-one caring relationships for those who need.

A Comfort Minister is...

  • A child of God who walks beside a hurting person
  • A caring Christian friend who really listens
  • A lay person who has received 60 hours of training in how to provide distinctively Christian care

A Comfort Minister is not...

  • A counselor or therapist
  • A problem-solver
  • A casual visitor
