INTERSECTION AHEAD (MAY 2-4)
Please help us make this special weekend even more successful and enjoyable by bringing that necessary item - food. On Friday and Saturday nights we will have covered dish meals. Meat will be provided but we need the participants to contribute the “sides.” Check the following list to see what you can bring one night - or even better - both nights, based on letter of your last name:
A-G Vegetable
H-R Salad
S-Z Dessert
If anyone would like to bring a meat dish it would be welcomed also. Thank you for your generosity and help for this incredible weekend experience.

BUMC MISSION CORNER
Upcoming Mission Opportunities -

Murphy-Harpst Workday 04/26/08: We are now working with Murphy-Harpst to create a garden for the children. We will take a team to the worksite on Saturday morning. The garden will provide produce for the children to sell to raise money. This is a great opportunity for families of BUMC to do something together and teach young children and teens about serving.

SERV Mexico 07/25/08 - 08/02/08: This is a BUMC sponsored mission trip to Mexico to build bunk beds for an orphanage and teach Vacation Bible School at night. The cost of the trip will be around $600 (depending on transportation).

If you are interested in these missions, or if you have any local ministries you would like BUMC to support, please feel free to contact Tal Cox at 770.310.6345 or Chris Holcombe at 404.276.0399.

UNITED METHODIST CHILDREN’S HOME
Monogrammed blankets for the girls in
Williams Cottage at the United Methodist Children's Home that were made, knotted, and prayed over at the Women's Retreat and our Sanctuary were delivered by Kay Brown and Kathy Christman on a very cold March 8th! We spread them on the altar in their beautiful, old chapel where we prayed over them again. Accompanying the blankets were personalized cards containing the lyrics to He Knows My Name. These cards were lovingly made by Debey Stratton. Due to privacy regulations, we were not able to present the blankets ourselves, but Ellen Shepard, Director of Religious Life at UMCH, did so in a personal ceremony the next day. Below is a letter from Ellen conveying just how much these small tokens mean to the girls. For more information on the United Methodist Children's Home, go to www.umchildrenshome.org.

Dear, dear ladies,
The girls just LOVE their blankets and have worn them as shawls from the moment they received them. How special they felt and still feel. I told them about the prayers with the knotting and they were amazed! They want to frame their cards – how wonderful! Their lives are and have been very hard – but you have blessed them in mighty ways. Thanks to
you all.

OPEN DOORS, OPEN HEARTS
Take it to the Limit - A six-part message series for those whose schedules are too full and whose checking accounts are too empty! Our culture encourages us to live as if we have no limits. So we fill up our schedules and empty our bank accounts. We do as much as we can, spend as much as we can and acquire as much as we can. Life on the edge means life with no margin. Life without margin is a recipe for personal disaster. Together, we will explore God's answer to our self-destructive propensity to live as if we have no limits. (Six Sessions) This series starts this morning at 9:45. For questions, contact Jenifer Saunders at 770.475.1622 or by at jandksaunders@comcast.net
