WELCOME CHILDREN AND YOUTH
This summer we especially welcome our children and youth to the
Sanctuary worship services. Adults, please help make the services a
special experience. A smile, a high five, or other friendly gesture
will let them know they are welcome.
Parents, some suggestions for you are:
• Make a restroom stop before coming into the service.
• Sit where the children can see.
• Quietly explain what is happening. Point out the acolytes,
musicians, minister, altar table, etc.
• Suggest that the children look for someone who looks sad or lonely
and say a prayer for that person. Draw a picture for that person to
give to them after the service.
• Help children realize that we sing, we pray, we listen, and we
give during worship.
Nursery
care for children in Pre-K and younger will be available throughout
the summer. Our regular Sunday School classes will resume on August
10.
NAME TAGS - IMPORTANT!
Please wear your name tag every Sunday.
This will be especially helpful to our new pastors. You can order a
name tag by using
the envelopes at the information table in the narthex. Your name tag
will be placed on the information table for you to pick up. Orders
generally take two weeks. There are a number of name tags that have
not been collected.

CALLING ALL YOUTH & ADULTS…
Disciple Bible Study is gearing up for the fall and we would like
YOU to be a part of it!
“If you make my word your home, you will indeed be my disciples.”
John 8:31 (NJB)
This fall, BUMC will be offering several Disciple Bible Study
Classes. Disciple Bible Study is a covenant-based 34-week study that
meets for 2.5 hours each week. Each session involves daily Scripture
reading, a group video component, and group discussions. Classes are
held either at the church or in member’s homes. This is a wonderful
opportunity to be a part of an excellent Bible study, get involved
in a small group, and to get to know others in the church.
Two classes are forming:
Disciple I - Tuesday Mornings: 10 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Facilitator: Rev. Julie Boone Childcare available)
Disciple II - Monday Evenings: 7 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Anderson
Come . . . be and a part of this life-transforming ministry. Cost
$40 per person.

BUMC MISSION CORNER
MEXICO TRIP (JULY 26 - AUGUST 2)
OUR APPRECIATION
Thank you to Jo Chavis and Bonnie Jackson for making the
twenty-seven banners for the children at the Douglas House in
Sabinas Hildalgo, Mexico. Each banner has the child’s name and “He
Knows My Name” in Spanish. The banner will hang over the child’s bed
as a reminder of God’s love.
Thanks to the special members of our church, all twenty-seven
children at the Douglas House will have a new pair of shoes to begin
the school year. Uniforms are required for school and those without
are not allowed to attend. Receiving new shoes is a very big thing.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
MURPHY-HARPST CHILDREN’S CENTER
Please join us Thursday, July 31, for a luau at Murphy Harpst.
We will leave the BUMC parking lot at 9:30 a.m. and will return
around 4:00 p.m. Bring either a liter soft drink (caffeine free) or
a bag of chips or cookies. Since our theme is a luau, feel free to
be creative! We especially invite our youth (rising ninth through
graduating seniors). We will need to give the Murphy-Harpst staff a
head count, so R.S.V.P. to Carole Johnson at 770.752.8534.
If you have any local ministries you would like BUMC to support,
please feel free to contact Tal Cox at 770.310.6345 or Chris
