ATTENTION ALL EMMAUS, TRES DIAS, AND CRUSILLO ALUMNI
Please join us today immediately following the 11:00 worship service
for a “Mini Gathering" of the BUMC Emmaus Community. We will finish
within an hour. This will be a time for fellowship, a light meal,
and a restart of the Emmaus movement within our congregation. We
will share some important information about upcoming walks and our
focus for the coming year. We will also hear from Dr. Dave Benson
and have time for comments and open discussion. Please bring a dish
to share and a heart for sharing your Emmaus experience with others.

DIVORCE/GRIEF COUNSELING
Wellspring Counseling Center at Birmingham UMC will be offering
counseling groups this fall: GriefShare, GriefCare for Kids,
DivorceCare, DivorceCare for Kids, and DivorceCare for Teens
starting Thursday, September 4. Groups will be led by a licensed
professional counselor and a masters prepared counselor. Please

THIRD GRADE BIBLES
On Sunday, September 7, third graders will receive Bibles at the
9:30 and 11:00 a.m. services. Information will be mailed to
current third graders. On September 12, third graders will have fun
learning to use their Bibles after enjoying pizza together.

THE AMAZING COLLECTION
This is a Bible study designed for women that teaches the Bible
sequentially book by book in an understandable, relevant and
exciting way so people can learn for life from every book of God’s

DISCIPLE BIBLE STUDY

This fall, BUMC will be offering several Disciple Bible Study
Classes. Disciple Bible Study is a covenant-based 34-week study that
meets weekly. Each session involves daily Scripture reading, a group
video component, and group discussions. Classes are held either at
the Church or in members’ homes. This is a wonderful opportunity to
be a part of an excellent Bible study, get involved in a small
group, and get to know others in the Church.
Three classes are forming:
Disciple I - Tuesday mornings: 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Disciple II - Monday evenings: 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Facilitators: Dr. Boyd Whaley and Elizabeth

BUMC MEN’S BREAKFAST
Please join us for the next Men’s Ministry Study Breakfast on

BUMC ANNUAL FAMILY CAMPOUT
Hold the dates for the Third Annual Family Campout on October 11 and
12. Come for the afternoon and evening or stay overnight on the
beautiful Sanctuary Land. Don’t miss it! More information is
coming soon.
HOW DO I JOIN BUMC?
Complete and submit a membership form available on the BUMC web site
or contact the church office for a hard copy. All new members must
be baptized prior to joining the church. If you have not been
baptized, please contact the office to schedule a baptism. You may
be baptized on the day you join. Contact Mary Mueller at
770.815.4980 to schedule the date and time you wish to join. New
members may join any Sunday, at either service. Membership Sundays
are scheduled on the fourth Sunday of each month for those who wish
to join in a group setting. Those dates are August 24, September 28,
October 26, and November 23.
CONNECTIONS CLASS
This class is specifically geared towards newcomers and new members.
It is a series
of three one-hour classes held in the Bride’s Room, just off the
Sanctuary, during the 11:00 a.m. worship service. This is a
wonderful opportunity to meet the staff and learn about the
ministries of BUMC and about getting connected. Classes will resume
on September 7. Reservations are not required but greatly

DAVE RAMSEY FPU COMING TO BUMC
