ALTAR FLOWERS
The altar flowers are given this week by Dave, Cathy, Nick, and
Christina Semeria in loving memory of Dave’s mother, Maisie Semeria.
DIVORCE/GRIEF COUNSELING
Wellspring Counseling Center at Birmingham UMC will be offering
counseling groups this fall: GriefShare, GriefCare for Kids,
DivorceCare, DivorceCare for Kids, and DivorceCare for Teens
starting Thursday, September 4. Groups
will be led by a licensed professional counselor and a masters
prepared counselor. Please contact Derek Struchtemeyer at

HOW DO I JOIN BUMC?
Complete and submit a membership form available on the BUMC web site
or contact the church office for a hard copy. All new members must
be baptized prior to joining the church. If you have not been
baptized, please contact the office to schedule a baptism. You may
be baptized on the day you join. Contact Mary Mueller at
770.815.4980 to schedule the date and time you wish to join. New
members may join any Sunday, at either service. Membership Sundays
are scheduled on the fourth Sunday of each month for those who wish
to join in a group setting. Those dates are September 28, October
26, and November 23.
CONNECTIONS CLASS
This class is specifically geared towards newcomers and new members.
It is a series of three one-hour classes held in the Bride’s Room,
just off the Sanctuary, during the 11:00 a.m. worship service. This
is a wonderful opportunity to meet the staff and learn about the
ministries of BUMC and about getting connected. Classes will resume
on September 7. Reservations are not required but greatly

THIRD GRADE BIBLES
Next Sunday, September 7, third graders will receive Bibles at the
9:30 and 11:00 a.m. services. Information will be mailed to current
third graders. On September 12, third graders will have fun learning
to use their Bibles after enjoying pizza together.

THE AMAZING COLLECTION
This is a Bible study designed for women that teaches the Bible
sequentially book by book in an understandable, relevant and
exciting way so people can learn for life from every book of God’s
Word. Please join us on Tuesday, September 23, at 10:00 a.m. in the
first grade Sunday School room as we begin our study of Genesis.
This weekly Bible Study is open to all women of the church and

DISCIPLE BIBLE STUDY

This fall, BUMC will be offering several Disciple Bible Study
Classes. Disciple Bible Study is a covenant-based 34-week study that
meets weekly. Each session involves daily Scripture reading, a group
video component, and group discussions. Classes are held either at
the Church or in members’ homes. This is a wonderful opportunity to
be a part of an excellent Bible study, get involved in a small
group, and get to know others in the Church.
Three classes are forming:
Disciple I - Tuesday mornings: 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Starts September 9
Facilitator: Rev. Julie Boone (Childcare available)
Disciple II - Monday evenings: 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Starts September 8
Facilitators: Dr. Boyd Whaley and Elizabeth Anderson
Disciple III - Wednesday mornings: 10:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m.

MISSION CORNER
~ On October 10-19, a tent mission team will be going to Monterrey
to work in partnership with the church at Pan de Vida in a new
location outside of Monterrey. This will be a medical/dental
evangelism team that will serve a community similar to Santa Rosa.
