MEN’S PRAYER BREAKFAST TOMORROW
Gentlemen,
Remember our monthly Men’s Ministry Study Breakfasts start again tomorrow, September 8, from 7:00 to 8:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Bring a neighbor and join your fellow BUMC men for coffee, juice, and a healthy breakfast followed by a Bible study led by Dr. Boyd Whaley. Call Jeff Johnson at 404. 312.9984 if you have questions.

HOW DO I JOIN BUMC?
Complete and submit a membership form available on the BUMC web site or contact the church office for a hard copy. All new members must be baptized prior to joining the church. If you have not been baptized, please contact the office to schedule a baptism. You may be baptized on the day you join. Contact Mary Mueller at 770.815.4980 to schedule the date and time you wish to join. New members may join any Sunday, at either service. Membership Sundays are scheduled on the fourth Sunday of each month for those who wish to join in a group setting. The next dates are September 28, October 26, and November 23.

CONNECTIONS CLASS
This class is specifically geared towards newcomers and new members. Today is the second of three one-hour classes held in the Bride’s Room, just off the Sanctuary, during the 11:00 a.m. worship service. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet the staff and learn about the ministries of BUMC and about getting connected. Reservations are not required but greatly appreciated. THE AMAZING COLLECTION

40 DAYS OF TRANSFORMATION

MISSION CORNER
~ On October 10-19, a tent mission team will be going to Monterrey to work in partnership with the church at Pan de Vida in a new location outside of Monterrey. ALPHA IS HERE!

It’s not too late to begin your journey through the basics of the Christian faith. This week's topic is, "Why did Jesus die?" It's one you won't want to miss! We'll have a light meal, watch the video, and discuss in small groups.
No question is seen as too simple. Childcare and a meal are provided for the kids. We're looking forward to seeing you there!

MURPHY-HARPST HALLOWEEN COSTUMES
Our drive last year for new or gently used
Halloween costumes for the kids at Murphy-Harpst was a HUGE success. It was so heart warming to see the children dressed up and experience what "normal" children do on Halloween. For most it was their first real costume. Please think of these children while you are shopping in the next month or so. If purchasing an entire costume is too costly, consider joining forces with others or select smaller items. The girls love glitter spray, make-up, nail polish and fake nails. The older boys (age 13-17) also enjoy dressing up for the party even though they are too cool to trick
or treat! Please contribute and leave your donations in the closet in the Church office.

WHAT IS YOUR STORY?
Our congregation has been asked to write a monthly devotional booklet for the children at Murphy-Harpst. We realize that there are a number of incredible stories of hope, faith and love among our members that would fill an entire book. What we are looking for are "Chicken Soup For The Soul" type stories. Ideally, they should be one to two pages long with a reference Scripture and typed as a Word document. Don't let that intimidate you. We want your story and plan to publish before Christmas. Watch for a bulletin insert within in the next few weeks. Wouldn't your story in print make an excellent Christmas gift? Please submit your story to Carole Johnson (770.752.8534; ammcj@bellsouth.net) or the office.

DIVORCE/GRIEF COUNSELING
Wellspring Counseling Center at Birmingham UMC is now offering counseling groups: GriefShare, GriefCare for Kids, DivorceCare, DivorceCare for Kids, and DivorceCare for Teens on Thursday evenings in the Education Building. Groups are led by a licensed professional counselor and a masters prepared counselor.
