40 DAYS OF TRANSFORMATION
GET YOUR BOOKS NOW
We are forming small groups for the church-wide event, 40 Days of
Transformation. This is a 40-day study focusing on “Treasures of the
Transformed Life: Satisfying Your Soul’s Thirst for More.” If you
are not in a group and/or would like to lead a group, please contact
Stan Purvis at 770.740.9559 or jpurvis818@aol.com. Books and
workbooks are available in the church office and in the cloister on
Sunday mornings ($15).
The Cookbook, Birmingham's Best is
here!! They will be available for purchase before and after
Sunday services in the cloister. The cost is $15 each or 2 / $25. If

HOW DO I JOIN BUMC?
Complete and submit a membership form available on the BUMC web
site or contact the church office for a hard copy. All new members
must be baptized prior to joining the church. If you have not been
baptized, please contact the office to
schedule a baptism. You may be baptized on the day you join. Contact
Mary Mueller at 770.815.4980 to schedule the date and time you wish
to join. New members may join any Sunday, at either service.
Membership Sundays are scheduled on the fourth Sunday of each month
for those who wish to join in a group setting. The next date is
November 23.

These sessions meet weekly during the school year. Students discuss
topics related to their everyday lives in small group environments.

UMYF (UNITED METHODIST YOUTH FELLOWSHIP) TODAY
This group meets two Sundays each month from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. All

MISSION CORNER
~DRAKE HOUSE NEEDS
The Drake House in Roswell, offering emergency housing for women and
children in North Fulton, is in real need of food items with the
great increase in families applying for services. Please leave your
contributions in the box outside the church office door. The pantry
wish list includes cereal, pancake mix, breakfast bars, canned goods
(pasta, vegetables, fruits), rice, jelly, coffee, cookies/crackers,
boxed dinners, sugar, and syrup, and 100% juice and juice boxes.
Paper towels, Kleenex, dish detergent, and powdered dishwasher
detergent are also needed. Thank you for your help.
WINTER COAT AND CLOTHING DRIVE
The BUMC Missions Committee is sponsoring a coat and winter clothing
drive to benefit North Fulton Community Charities and MUST
Ministries Cherokee. Please consider donating items you no longer
need to help others in our community. Clothing for children and
adults of all ages and sizes are needed. Collection bins will be
available at the church through November 2. Clothing should be clean
and in good condition. Winter clothing only please. If you have any

MUST CHEROKEE’S
THANKSGIVING NEEDS
MUST Cherokee is collecting food items for the over 600 families
they expect to serve for Thanksgiving this year. Food items needed
include cans of corn, green beans, cranberry sauce and sweet
potatoes; boxes of mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, cornbread
mix, and stuffing; jars of gravy or packages of gravy mix; pies and
turkeys. Non-perishable items can be dropped off at BUMC before
November 14 or at MUST Cherokee from November 10 through 14 between
9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. MUST volunteers will assemble the baskets
November 17 through the 21 and distributing them November 24 through
26. Due to limited freezer storage, frozen turkeys and pies can only
be accepted at MUST on November 24, 25 and 26 from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m.
In lieu of these items, grocery gift cards are gladly accepted. If

FPU COURSE IN JANUARY
By popular demand, a new Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University
course will begin on January 5 and continue every Monday evening
from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. through March 30 in the Fellowship Hall. This
life-changing program teaches you how to make the right decisions
with your money. You'll be empowered with the practical skills and
confidence needed to achieve your financial goals. If there are ten
paid reservations by October 31, the course materials will cost $90
per
household; otherwise the cost will be $100. The course is payable in
cash or check made payable to BUMC with Dave Ramsey FPU noted on the
