I
joined Birmingham 6 years ago with my husband, David and two
children, Nick (13 yrs. old) and Christina (12 yrs. old). I also
have two older children, Jessie who is 23 and graduated from
Kennesaw State University and Eric who is 24 yrs. old.
I have a BA
in English and a minor in Psychology. My previous work
experience was in the Publishing/Advertising/Marketing
businesses. The variety of positions I have worked include a
Broadcast Journalist for a radio station in Stamford,
Connecticut; a Production Coordinator for a Direct Mail company
in Manhattan, NY for 3 years and as an Advertising and Marketing
Director in Norwalk, Connecticut for 4 years. Throughout these
jobs I worked extensively with photographers, printing shops and
graphic designers.
We moved to
Alpharetta from Connecticut 18 years ago. We lived on the other
side of Alpharetta for 12 years and moved close to Birmingham in
2002. I was a stay at home Mom and student at Kennesaw from 1991
to 1997. In 1999 my husband and I opened our own shops - Chelsea
Antiques - in Alpharetta. I worked there through the end of
2004.
In June of
2005 I joined the staff here at Birmingham as the Communications
Coordinator. I am responsible for all print media, power point
for Sunday’s services, keeping our website updated and keeping
our Congregation as educated and as informed as possible on the
numerous opportunities for growth, service, discipleship and
building relationships with others here at Birmingham and with
God.
Last year I
was assigned as Director of Every Member in Ministry. This
exciting new program was launched at Birmingham last Fall. This
Program is vital to the tremendous growth here at Birmingham and
to our congregation's spiritual growth - both individually and
collectively! You will find out ways to "Get Wired into God" and
how to "Plug in at BUMC". We need YOU to be a part of the
amazing ministries here at Birmingham! If you have any questions
on how to get connected here at BUMC please feel free to call me
or email me. Look for our second year of this Program this Fall
– it will be transformational to BUMC and will remind us all
that each and everyone of us is a Minister!
God has
moved in amazing ways throughout our family’s lives. As we found
our way to Birmingham, we found our home. The most incredible
people here have transformed our lives. I am honored, humbled
and privileged to be on Staff at Birmingham. If there is
anything I can do to help out or answer any questions you might
have or information you need communicated to our church, please
do not hesitate to give me a call.
God Bless,
Cathy Semeria
