Lynne
is the Associate Pastor and Minister of Membership. She
graduated from Candler School of Theology in May 2006 and was
commissioned as a Deacon in the United Methodist Church at
Annual Conference in June 2006. Lynne grew up in the Roswell
area and graduated from Roswell High School. She holds a
Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and Economics from Furman
University in Greenville, South Carolina.
Joining Lynne in this journey are her husband, Ted, and their
three children, Elise, Rachel, and Michael. Without their love
and support, the journey through seminary and the Candidacy
process would not have been possible. Lynne’s mother, Shirley
Faulkner, also attends BUMC and is a life-long support of
Lynne’s faith journey. Ted’s mother, Anne Smith, attends a
nearby United Methodist Church and is also an amazing support
for Lynne’s life in ministry.
Lynne’s call to ministry is a call to peace and justice. Her
passion for ministry is in helping people connect with who God
has created them to be so that they can more fully love God and
love their neighbor. As a Deacon, Lynne is committed to drawing
the Church out into the world to share the gifts and talents of
the church with those who need to feel the physical, emotional,
and spiritual healing offered by the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Lynne’s ministry is focused on fulfilling the mission of the
Church – to make disciples for the transformation of the world.
She believes that “making disciples” begins in the home and
seeks to equip and encourage parents, grandparents, and
caregivers to model Christian discipleship for those in their
care. Understanding that more of Christianity is “caught” than
“taught,” Lynne encourages people to model their faith through
their words and actions in their homes, their schools, their
places of work, and their communities. At BUMC, Lynne strives to
create an environment where people can connect in meaningful
ways to grow in knowledge and understanding of their faith and
to live out that faith in ways that honor God and build-up
others.
