Nancy Spence is our Director of Children’s Ministries. Nancy
brings a rich background in Children’s Ministry. A graduate of
Wesleyan College, a former Elementary School Teacher, certified by
UMC as associate in Christian Education, has done Graduate work at
Candler Theology at Emory University and United Theological
Seminary. Nancy served as Roswell UMC as Director of Children &
Family Ministries for 23 years. She retired a year ago. Nancy has
been recognized as a consultant to the United Methodist Publishing
House, a writer for Cokesbury, co-author of From BC to PC, and
workshop leader in several states. In 1995, she was recognized in
the USA Today for the fourth-grade Lenten program, “Pizza, Pretzels,
and Prayers”. Nancy serves on the North Georgia Conference Committee
on Persons Living in Poverty, The District Council on Ministries,
and the Annual National Children’s Forum of the Large Church
Initiative.
Her immediate goals are to:

Create an environment where children grow in their relationship
with God and with each other.

Provide opportunities for children to learn Bible stories in such
a way that they recognize the truth of those stories and make
commitments to living that truth in their own lives.

Provide opportunities that take into account the different
learning styles and developmental levels of children.

Develop a TEAM of volunteers who recognize the importance and
necessity of prayer, study, and work to ensure the quality of
Christian education our children need and deserve.
