The mission of the Birmingham Women’s Ministry is to lead, equip, encourage and enrich women in their relationship with Jesus Christ.

Ministry & Fellowship

• BUMC’S WOMEN’S MINISTRY MISSION focus for 2008-2009 is the United Methodist Children’s Home and Murphy Harpst Children’s Home. Both homes have children who need support both materially and spiritually. Various projects throughout the year provide this needed support and give our women a chance to be in the mission field in our own communities.

• BUMC’S WOMEN’S CIRCLE is for women of all ages and provides a chance to have fun, meet new friends, hear inspiration speakers, share reading ideas and support one another in prayer. Circle meets the second Tuesday of each month (September – April) from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. at BUMC. Childcare is provided. For more information please contact Stephanie Owens at 770.442.9671.

• SISTERS OF ONE HEART Sacred scripture reminds us that in coming to know our innermost self we will come to know God (Psalm 51:5). As a small group of committed sisters we will explore our own hearts and enter into the mystery of our Christian faith… As we explore the answers to these questions...Who am I? Who is God? • THE QUILT MINISTRY creates quilts for patients and families of BUMC who are seriously ill. The coordinators are Lillian Cole and Sue O’Dwyer. This group meets on the third Wednesday of each month from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at the church. For more information contact Lillian Cole at 770.475.7855.

• WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDIES are offered throughout the year. Current offerings for 2008 – 2009 include:
  The Amazing Collection – a video Bible study, taught book by book, beginning with Genesis. Tuesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the church (begins September 23rd).   Beth Moore Study – Saturdays from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. in the choir room (begins in September). For more information contact Teri Baldwin at 770.313.4783. If any one is interested in an evening class please contact Teri.
  Beth Moore Study – Tuesdays from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church (begins August 26th). For more information contact Sherry Schoendorf at 678.339.0825.
